I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1960, parents from Bavaria and Sudetenland, went to school there and University of Witwatersrand to get a BSc. Then worked as a construction engineer/manager from 1988-2004. I came on holiday to Germany 2002, loved it and stayed here, done my last 5 building projects in Germany.
I found management stressful as I had social-phobia and no lessons in the German language. Switched to the IT branch as a technician very easily and attended to ~ 2000 hot line maintenance calls, installed 8000+ computers in the panic of the Y2K problem and as worked in project-teams. My carrier ended 3 years after getting married, and became unemployed since 2005 when falling very ill to poly-neuropathie and Atrial fibrillation. Right leg amputated 2018.
... since then I have adapted to my situation. I sometimes get the feeling I will pass on soon and other times that I can live forever.
My aim at piqd is to motivate discussion on how to make the world a better place. We have so much to fix on this crazy globe.
We own too much stuff we do not really need, and we sometimes hide our ideas and tips from other people. Releasing good ideas as "open-source" rather than shelving them as patents can accelerate technical and humanitarian progress. Too many brilliant ideas are lost because the way to patenting or development of a new product or service is very complicated. Only 1% of inventions are patented and only 1% of those are realized! Imagine how much further and better life would be if those ideas are not blocked by greedy businessmen and foolish inventors.
"Making the world a better place by sharing ideas, designs and philosophy can be easy. We are too distracted from reality and solutions by main-media, online-games, team-sport, silly conflicts between groups of people and certainly by advertising (commercials). If we spent less time on these distractions and more on love, sharing, art, good music and joy, the world would be different. There is no reason for war and disturbing that some have more than a billion in assets." RRG
