Jak wam się udało połączyć marksistowską retorykę ze stadionowymi chuliganami?
Radosław Kossakowski: To był szalony pomysł, ale korzystaliśmy z tego, że teoretyczna rama marksistowska na Zachodzie nie wiąże się z takim ostracyzmem i kontrowersjami jak w Polsce. Wykorzystywana jest, bo od lat mówi się o komercjalizacji i utowarowieniu futbolu. Podkreślają to zwłaszcza badacze angielskiej Premier League. Piłka nożna to towar, a główny odbiorca, którym była klasa robotnicza, został pozbawiony tej rozrywki. Teoria Marksa mówi też o panowaniu jednej klasy nad drugą, a to funkcjonuje w futbolu i postanowiliśmy tę teorię wykorzystać. Nikt w Polsce wcześniej nie mówił o piłce nożnej w tym kontekście.
Na tym polega świeżość waszego badania?
Przyłożyliśmy ramę marksistowską do świata kibiców. Najczęściej mówi się o tym, że <a href="https://krytykapolityczna.pl/kultura/czytaj-dalej/kinga-dunin-czyta/kochajac-sport-kochasz-kapitalizm/">biznes żeruje na kibicach</a>, ale my doszliśmy do wniosku, że w środowisku kibiców też jest taka mała klasa panująca, burżuazja. To klasa chuliganów, która w wielu kwestiach ma decydujący głos i często wykorzystuje tę „klasę robotniczą”, czyli pozostałych fanów, którzy pracują na rzecz środowiska kibicowskiego.
Oczami wyobraźni widzę polskich chuliganów, którzy dowiadują się, że zostali wtłoczeni w marksistowskie ramy…
W Polsce Marks nie jest popularny, ale my podchodzimy do tego analitycznie, po prostu mówimy o pewnym stosunku dominacji. To dobra rama interpretacyjna do opisywania pewnego zjawiska empirycznego. Tylko tyle i aż tyle.
Co kontrolują chuligani, że są klasą burżuazyjną?
Przede wszystkim środki materialne. Znany jest casus kibiców Ruchu Chorzów, którzy w związku z wyjazdem na mecz finału Pucharu Polski mieli zysk ok. 100 tysięcy złotych. Ten zysk oczywiście nie został rozparcelowany na wszystkich kibiców, tylko trafił do kieszeni uprzywilejowanej garstki. Materialne kwestie to dystrybucja biletów czy gadżetów. W przypadku <a href="https://krytykapolityczna.pl/kraj/wisla-krakow-sharksi-misiek-kibole/">Wisły Kraków</a> grupa chuliganów Sharks żyła z prowadzenia klubów sztuki walki, więc jeśli chciałeś trenować, dawałeś im zarabiać. Jak się potem okazało, mieli też kontrolę nad dystrybucją biletów. Chuligani monopolizują także rynek np. narkotyków. Ale jest też symboliczne panowanie, w wielu przypadkach ultrasi muszą uzgadniać oprawy z grupami chuligańskimi. Mamy więc do czynienia z hegemonią na wielu poziomach.
Jak odróżnić ultrasa od chuligana?
Grupy chuligańskie są wyspecjalizowane i wytrenowane, bardzo dobrze znają sztuki walki, nie ma w ich strukturach przypadkowych osób. Ultrasi są zaangażowani w doping, machają flagami, ale często nie są wysportowani, nie mają szans w konfrontacji z chuliganami. Ci ostatni natomiast skupiają się na tych, którzy są wysportowani, bo tylko taki osobnik daje przewagę nad przeciwnikiem.
Jak doszło do rozwoju w Polsce ruchów chuligańskich? Wykorzystali brak zainteresowania państwa podczas transformacji?
Trochę tak. Po ’89 państwo nie kontrolowało sytuacji na stadionach. Pierwsza wersja ustawy o bezpieczeństwie imprez masowych powstała w roku 1997. Przez lata była jednak martwa. Państwo z opóźnieniem zaczęło inwigilować to środowisko. Ale to także dlatego, że to bardzo hermetyczna grupa, która żyła swoim życiem i nie pchała się na afisze. Ich wybryki nie zaburzały życia państwa. Państwo miało inne priorytety, przecież trzeba było się zająć gigantycznym bezrobociem, a nie grupką agresywnych kibiców.
Kiedy problem chuliganów znalazł się na wokandzie społecznej?
Gdy rozpoczęły się działania wokół organizacji Euro 2012. Wówczas stało się to kwestią publiczną, w końcu szykowano święto piłki nożnej. Wtedy także dziennikarze zaczęli częściej pisać o problemie, przyglądać mu się. Był to akurat czas, kiedy profesjonalizacja chuliganów zaczęła nabierać tempa. Dzisiaj wydaje się w szczytowym momencie.
Na czym polegała ta profesjonalizacja?
Uregulowano pewne zachowania. Chuligani to bardzo scementowane grupy, z silnym naciskiem na trening, wymagają od swoich członków pełnego zaangażowania. Jest takie hasło kibiców Górnika Zabrze: „Nie jeździsz, nie ćwiczysz, to się nie liczysz”. Nie można być chuliganem stojącym przy budce z piwem. To nie jest grupka, w której możesz powiedzieć, że gdzieś nie jedziesz, bo ci się nie chce. Jest pewna granica i jeśli ją przekroczysz, nie masz możliwości wyjścia. W końcu w ten sposób zdobywasz pewne informacje o nielegalnej aktywności.
Funkcjonowanie chuliganów bardziej przypomina mafię czy wojsko?
Połączyłbym te dwie metafory. Wojsko, bo to oddział zhierarchizowany, są „generałowie” i grupa oddanych żołnierzy. Mafia, bo to częstokroć nielegalna struktura, która nie współpracuje z policją, obowiązuje w niej kodeks związany z karaniem fizycznym i wykluczeniem.
Poglądy mają znaczenie?
Idee polityczne nie są głównym elementem, który cementuje te grupy. Bardziej chodzi o interesy. Nigdy od żadnego z chuliganów nie usłyszałem, że rekrutowano go na podstawie poglądów. Ale przypuszczam, że skoro ktoś odnajduje się w tak zhierarchizowanej strukturze, to jest pewnie osobą o konserwatywnych poglądach, takiej osobie jest łatwiej.
Po marszach niepodległości mówi się o chuliganach walczących z policją. To chuligani ze stadionów sportowych się tam pojawiają?
Słowo „chuligan” kojarzymy z występkami chuligańskimi. Natomiast biorąc pod uwagę to środowisko, im nieszczególnie zależy na braniu aktywnego udziału w takich wydarzeniach. Przecież mogą zostać zwinięci przez policję, a to ryzyko, że „wyjdzie” coś dodatkowego. Oczywiście to nie znaczy, że kibiców tam nie ma, ale w większości to ultrasi, którzy poszukują wrażeń ulicznych, czegoś, czego na stadionach już nie ma, tego dreszczu adrenaliny, konfrontacji, walki z systemem. Chuligani mają za dużo do stracenia.
Co, jeśli ktoś doniesie na innego chuligana?
Rozmawiałem z byłym chuliganem Cracovii. Kiedyś z kolegą napadli na kibica Wisły, który zgłosił atak na policję. I ten mój rozmówca stanął przed dylematem, czy chce trafić do więzienia. Nikogo nie wsypał, ale poszedł na współpracę z policją. W środowisku kibicowskim był jednak skończony. Ludzie wyzywali go na ulicy, a jak raz poszedł na stadion Cracovii, to szybko musiał stamtąd uciekać. Na kilka miesięcy przeprowadził się do anonimowego mieszkania. Są przypadki kibiców pobitych przez innych kibiców za to, że poszli na policję. To nie tylko jest uważane za dyshonor, ale zagraża także działalności grupy. Gdyby wyszło na to, że ktoś miał cokolwiek wspólnego z policją, to koniec. Liderzy grup chuligańskich nie mogą sobie pozwolić na odstępstwa od reguły. Muszą pokazać siłę i zdecydowanie, żeby utrzymać ludzi w szachu.
Dlaczego to dla wielu młodych atrakcyjne grupy?
Szczególnie dotyczy to młodych mężczyzn, którzy wchodzą w dorosłość. Stają się członkami grupy, dostają telefon, nierzadko pierwsze pieniądze. Jest w tym wszystkim element solidarności, który może być pociągający. Jest też perspektywa szybkiego awansu, poczucia, że jest się elitą, że ma się władzę. Dla wielu to awans społeczny.
Jest jakiś kryzys w rekrutacji?
Środowisko kibicowskie zasadniczo ma z rekrutacją problem, a pandemia koronawirusa go spotęgowała. Trudno jest zaangażować młodych ludzi, którzy mają dziś tyle rozrywek do wyboru. Do tego to specyficzna grupa, w której musisz kogoś słuchać, nie ma w niej demokracji, większość młodych tego nie kupuje. Ale to dotyczy kibicowania w ogóle, nie tylko chuliganów.
W tej grupie jest potencjał obywatelski? Mówi się, że chuligani to bojówki PiS-u.
Za każdym razem, gdy to słyszę, mówię – poczekajmy i sprawdźmy. Nawet w ilościowych badaniach PiS jest na trzecim czy czwartym miejscu ich sympatii politycznych. Przed PiS jest Ruch Narodowy, Konfederacja, Kukiz, antysystemowcy. Są jeszcze bardziej na prawo niż PiS.
Po co im futbol?
To jeden z ostatnich bastionów tradycyjnie postrzeganej męskości. Nikt tam nie mówi, co jest politycznie poprawne i jakiego języka należy używać. Grupa kibicowska daje ujście takiej plemiennej męskości. Kobiety są tam szanowane, ale na męskich warunkach. Skoro kobiety wchodzą, to nie ma tam innej kobiecości niż ta definiowana przez mężczyzn. Hasło: „nasze trybuny, nasze zasady” działa wielowymiarowo. To daje poczucie kontroli, władzy, czegoś, co części mężczyzn wymyka się w wielu społecznych obszarach w związku z emancypacją kobiet.

Joanna Wiśniowska: You wrote the paper entitled "Class wars among devoted football supporters. Hooligan bourgeoisie and non-hooligan proletariat" together with Mateusz Grodecki, who is also a sociologist engaged in the research of fan culture. How did you manage to combine Marxist rhetoric with stadium hooligans?
Radosław Kossakowski: It was a crazy idea, but we took advantage of the fact that the theoretical Marxist framework isn't associated with such ostracism and controversy in the west as it is in Poland. Researchers rely on it because the commercialisation and commodification of football were debated for years. This has been especially emphasised by researchers of the English Premier League. Football is a commodity, and the main recipient, which was the working class, has been deprived of this entertainment. Marx's theory also describes the rule of one class over another and, since this also applies to football, we decided to employ this theory. Nobody in Poland had talked about football in this context before.
Is this what makes your research novel?
We applied a Marxist framework to the world of football fans. Most people say that business preys on football fans, but we came to the conclusion that there is also a small ruling class among football fans, the hooligan bourgeoisie. It is a class of hooligans who have a decisive voice on many issues, and they often exploit the "working class" of the football world, ie other fans who work for the football fan community.
I can imagine it now when the Polish hooligans find out that they have been forced into a Marxist framework...
Marx is not popular in Poland, but we approach this analytically, we simply talk about a certain relation of power. It is a good interpretative framework to describe some empirical phenomena. No more, no less.
What do the hooligans control that makes them a bourgeois class?
First of all, material means. There is a well-known case of Ruch Chorzów fans who gained about 100 thousand zlotys [22,000 euros] from their trip to the Polish Cup final. Of course, this profit was not distributed among all the fans, but went to the pockets of a privileged few. Material issues include the distribution of tickets or gadgets. In the case of Wisła Kraków, a group of so-called Sharks hooligans lived off running martial arts clubs, so if you wanted to train, you let them make money. As it turned out later, they also had control over the distribution of tickets. Hooligans monopolise other markets as well, for instance drugs. But there is also symbolic control. In many cases the ultras have to agree on their flare displays with the hooligans beforehand [editor's note: ultras are fanatical football fans associated with the use of flares, vocal support and displaying banner on the stadiums]. So we are dealing with dominance on many levels.
How to distinguish ultras from hooligans?
Hooligan groups are specialised and trained, they know martial arts very well, there are no random people in their structures. Ultras are involved in cheering, waving flags, but are often not athletic, they do not stand a chance in a confrontation with the hooligans. The hooligans attract only fit and strong people, because only such an individual gives an advantage over the opponent.
How did hooligan movements develop in Poland? Did they take advantage of the state's lack of interest during the transformation?
To some extent, yes. After 1989 the state did not control the situation at stadiums. The first version of the Law on Security of Mass Events was passed in 1997, but for years it lay dormant. The state began to invigilate this environment too late. It was also because we are talking about a very secretive group, which lived its own life and did not push for publicity. Their excesses did not disturb the functioning of the state. The state had other priorities back then, after all, it had to prioritise dealing with mass unemployment, rather than a group of aggressive football fans.
When did the problem of hooligans enter the public arena?
When the preparations for organising the 2012 Euros began. That's when it became a public issue, because we were preparing for the festival of football. That was also the time when journalists started to write about the problem more often and took a closer look at it. It was the time when the professionalisation of hooligans began to gain momentum. Today it seems to be at its peak.
What did this professionalisation consist of?
Certain behaviours were regulated. Hooligans create very close-knit groups, with a strong emphasis on training and they require full commitment from their members. Górnik Zabrze fans have a slogan: "You don't travel, you don't exercise – you don't count". You can't be a hooligan standing by a beer stand. This is not a group where you can say that you're not going somewhere because you don't want to. There is a limit and if you cross it, you have no way out. Ultimately, that's how you get information about illegal activity.
Is how hooligans function more like the mafia or the army?
I would combine these two metaphors. The army, because it is a hierarchical unit, there are "generals" and a group of dedicated soldiers. The mafia, because it is often an illegal structure that does not cooperate with the police, it has a code associated with physical punishment and exclusion.
Do views matter?
Political ideas are not the main element that cements these groups. It's more about interests. I have never heard from any of the hooligans that they were recruited on the basis of views. But I suppose that if someone finds themselves in such a hierarchical structure, they must be a person with conservative views; it is easier for such a person.
After every Independence march [editor's note: yearly nationalist rallies in Warsaw on 11th November] there is talk of hooligans fighting with the police. Is it the hooligans from sports stadiums that appear there?
We associate the word "hooligan" with general hooliganism. But given the nature of this environment, they are not particularly eager to take an active part in such events. After all, they can be caught by the police, and there is a risk that something else will "come up". Of course, this does not mean that the football fans are not there, but they are mostly ultras who are looking for street experiences, something that is no longer present in the stadiums, the thrill of adrenaline, confrontation, fighting with the system. The hooligans have too much to lose.
What if a hooligan reports another hooligan?
I talked to a former Cracovia hooligan. Once, with a friend, they attacked a Wisła fan who reported the attack to the police. My interviewee was thus faced with the dilemma of whether he wanted to go to jail. He did not rat on anyone, but he cooperated with the police. In the fan community, however, he was finished. People called him names on the street, and the one time he went to Cracovia's stadium, he had to run away quickly. He moved to a safe house for a few months. There are cases of fans being beaten up by other fans for going to the police. Not only is this considered dishonourable, but it also threatens the group's activities. If it comes out that someone had anything to do with the police, this person is over. Leaders of hooligan groups cannot afford to deviate from the rule. They have to show strength and determination to keep people in line.
Why are these groups attractive to many young people?
This is especially true for young men who are entering adulthood. They become members of the group, they get a phone, often earning their first bit of money. There is an element of solidarity in all this, which can be appealing. There is also the prospect of quick promotion, the feeling that one is an elite, that one has power. For many it is social advancement.
Is there any crisis in recruitment now?
The fan community generally has a problem with recruitment, and the coronavirus pandemic has deepened this problem. It's difficult to engage young people who have so much entertainment to choose from these days. Plus it's a specific group where you have to listen to someone, there's no democracy in it, most young people don't buy it. But this applies to football fans in general, not just hooligans.
Is there a civic potential in this group? It is said that the hooligans are the militia of Law and Justice.
Every time I hear this, I say: let's wait and see. Even in quantitative research, PiS ranks only third or fourth in a list of their political sympathies. Ahead of PiS there are Ruch Narodowy (National Movement), Konfederacja (Confederation), Kukiz and anti-establishment movements. They are even more to the right than PiS.
Why do they need football?
It is one of the last bastions of traditionally perceived masculinity. Nobody there says what is politically correct and what language should be used. The football fan groups give vent to this tribal masculinity. Women are respected there, but on men's terms. Since women have been entering these groups, there is no other femininity there than the one defined by men. The slogan: "our stands, our rules" works multidimensionally. It gives a sense of control and power - something &nbsp;many men in many social areas lose due to the emancipation of women.

Class Struggle at The Stadiums. Who Are The Polish Hooligans?

The world of hooligans is one of the last bastions of traditionally perceived masculinity. Polish sociologist Radosław Kossakowski looks into it

Τζοάνα Βισνιόφσκι: Γράψατε μια μελέτη με τίτλο «Ταξικοί πόλεμοι μεταξύ αφοσιωμένων φιλάθλων του ποδοσφαίρου. Η αστική τάξη των χούλιγκαν και το προλεταριάτο των μη χούλιγκαν» μαζί με τον Ματέους Γκροντέτσκι, ο οποίος είναι επίσης κοινωνιολόγος που ασχολείται με την έρευνα του πολιτισμού των οπαδών. Πώς καταφέρατε να συνδυάσετε τη μαρξιστική ρητορική με τους χούλιγκαν των γηπέδων;
Ράντοσλαβ Κοσακόφσκι: Ήταν μια τρελή ιδέα, αλλά εκμεταλλευτήκαμε το γεγονός ότι το θεωρητικό μαρξιστικό πλαίσιο δε συνδέεται με την ίδια περιθωριοποίηση και τις αντιπαραθέσεις στη Δύση όσο στην Πολωνία. Οι ερευνητές βασίζονται σε αυτό επειδή η εμπορικότητα και η εμπορευματοποίηση του ποδοσφαίρου συζητιούνται εδώ και χρόνια. Αυτό τονίστηκε ιδιαίτερα από ερευνητές της Αγγλικής Πρέμιερ Λιγκ. Το ποδόσφαιρο είναι ένα εμπόρευμα και ο κύριος αποδέκτης, που ήταν η εργατική τάξη, έχει στερηθεί αυτήν την ψυχαγωγία. Η θεωρία του Μαρξ περιγράφει επίσης την εξουσία μιας τάξης έναντι της άλλης και, καθώς αυτό ισχύει και για το ποδόσφαιρο, αποφασίσαμε να χρησιμοποιήσουμε αυτήν τη θεωρία. Κανένας στην Πολωνία δεν είχε μιλήσει για το ποδόσφαιρο σε αυτό το πλαίσιο στο παρελθόν.
Αυτό είναι που κάνει καινοτόμα την έρευνα σας;
Εφαρμόσαμε ένα μαρξιστικό πλαίσιο στον κόσμο των οπαδών του ποδοσφαίρου. Οι περισσότεροι λένε ότι οι επιχειρήσεις εκμεταλλεύονται τους οπαδούς του ποδοσφαίρου, αλλά καταλήξαμε στο συμπέρασμα ότι υπάρχει επίσης μια μικρή κυρίαρχη τάξη μεταξύ των οπαδών του ποδοσφαίρου, η αστική τάξη των χούλιγκαν. Είναι μια τάξη χούλιγκαν που έχει αποφασιστική φωνή σε πολλά ζητήματα, και συχνά εκμεταλλεύονται την «εργατική τάξη» του κόσμου του ποδοσφαίρου, δηλαδή άλλους φιλάθλους που εργάζονται για την κοινότητα των οπαδών του ποδοσφαίρου.
Μπορώ να φανταστώ τώρα Πολωνούς χούλιγκαν να μαθαίνουν ότι τους έχουν εντάξει σε ένα μαρξιστικό πλαίσιο…
Ο Μαρξ δεν είναι δημοφιλής στην Πολωνία, αλλά το προσεγγίζουμε αυτό αναλυτικά, απλά μιλάμε για μια συγκεκριμένη σχέση εξουσίας. Είναι ένα καλό ερμηνευτικό πλαίσιο για την περιγραφή ορισμένων εμπειρικών φαινομένων. Τίποτα περισσότερο, τίποτα λιγότερο.
Τι ελέγχουν οι χούλιγκαν που τους καθιστά αστική τάξη;
Πρώτα απ 'όλα, υλικά μέσα. Υπάρχει μια πολύ γνωστή υπόθεση οπαδών της Ρουχ Χόρζοφ οι οποίοι έβγαλαν περίπου 100 χιλιάδες ζλότι [22.000 ευρώ] από το ταξίδι τους στον τελικό του Πολωνικού Κυπέλλου. Φυσικά, τα κέρδη αυτά δε διανεμήθηκαν σε όλους τους φιλάθλους, αλλά πήγαν στις τσέπες ορισμένων προνομιούχων. Σε υλικό επίπεδο περιλαμβάνεται η διανομή εισιτηρίων ή gadget. Στην περίπτωση της Βίσλα Κρακοβίας, μια ομάδα χούλιγκαν των Sharks συντηρούνταν από τη διεύθυνση μιας σχολής πολεμικών τεχνών, οπότε αν ήθελες να εκπαιδευτείς, τους έδινες λεφτά. Όπως αποδείχθηκε αργότερα, είχαν επίσης τον έλεγχο της διανομής των εισιτηρίων. Οι χούλιγκαν μονοπωλούν και άλλες αγορές, για παράδειγμα των ναρκωτικών. Υπάρχει όμως και έλεγχος των συμβόλων. Σε πολλές περιπτώσεις, οι ultras πρέπει να συμφωνήσουν με τους χούλιγκαν εκ των προτέρων για τα πανό τους. Έχουν λοιπόν να κάνουμε με την κυριαρχία σε πολλά επίπεδα.
Πώς να διαφέρουν οι ultras από τους χούλιγκαν;
Οι ομάδες χούλιγκαν είναι εξειδικευμένες και εκπαιδευμένες, γνωρίζουν πολύ καλά τις πολεμικές τέχνες, δεν υπάρχουν τυχαίοι άνθρωποι στις δομές τους. Οι ultras ασχολούνται με τα συνθήματα, κυματίζουν σημαίες, αλλά συχνά δεν είναι αθλητικοί, δεν έχουν καμία ελπίδα σε μια αντιπαράθεση με τους χούλιγκαν. Πώς αναπτύχθηκαν τα κινήματα χούλιγκαν στην Πολωνία; Επωφελήθηκαν από την έλλειψη ενδιαφέροντος του κράτους κατά τη διάρκεια του Μετασχηματισμού;
Σε κάποιο βαθμό, ναι. Μετά το 1989, το κράτος δεν έλεγχε πια την κατάσταση στα γήπεδα. Η πρώτη έκδοση του Νόμου για την Ασφάλεια των Μαζικών Εκδηλώσεων ψηφίστηκε το 1997, αλλά για χρόνια ήταν αδρανής. Όταν το κράτος άρχισε να επιτηρεί αυτό το περιβάλλον ήταν πολύ αργά. Αυτό συνέβη επίσης επειδή μιλάμε για μια πολύ μυστικοπαθή ομάδα, η οποία ζούσε τη δική της ζωή και δεν πίεζε για δημοσιότητα. Οι υπερβολές τους δε διατάραζαν τη λειτουργία του κράτους. Το κράτος άλλωστε είχε άλλες προτεραιότητες τότε, έπρεπε να δώσει προτεραιότητα στην αντιμετώπιση της μαζικής ανεργίας, αντί να ασχολείται με μια ομάδα επιθετικών οπαδών του ποδοσφαίρου.
Πότε μπήκε το πρόβλημα των χούλιγκαν στη δημόσια αρένα;
Όταν ξεκίνησαν οι προετοιμασίες για τη διοργάνωση του Euro του 2012. Τότε έγινε δημόσιο ζήτημα, γιατί ετοιμαζόμασταν για τη γιορτή του ποδοσφαίρου. Αυτή ήταν επίσης η εποχή που οι δημοσιογράφοι άρχισαν να γράφουν για το πρόβλημα πιο συχνά και να το εξετάζουν πιο προσεκτικά. Ήταν η εποχή που η επαγγελματικοποίηση των χούλιγκαν άρχισε να επιταχύνεται. Σήμερα φαίνεται να βρίσκεται στο αποκορύφωμά της.
Σε τι συνίστατο αυτή η επαγγελματικοποίηση;
Ορισμένες συμπεριφορές ρυθμίστηκαν. Οι χούλιγκαν δημιουργούν πολύ κλειστές ομάδες, με μεγάλη έμφαση στην προπόνηση και απαιτούν πλήρη αφοσίωση από τα μέλη τους. Οι οπαδοί της Γκούρνικ Ζάμπζε έχουν ένα σύνθημα: «Δεν ταξιδεύετε, δεν προπονείστε - δε μετράτε». Δεν μπορείς να είσαι ένας χούλιγκαν που κάθεται σε μια μπυραρία. Δεν είναι μια ομάδα όπου μπορείς να πεις ότι δε θα πας κάπου επειδή δε θες. Υπάρχει ένα όριο και αν το περάσεις, δεν υπάρχει διέξοδος. Εν τέλει, έτσι αποκτά κανείς πληροφορίες σχετικά με την παράνομη δραστηριότητα.
Οι χούλιγκαν λειτουργούν περισσότερο σαν τη μαφία ή τον στρατό;
Θα συνδύαζα αυτές τις δύο μεταφορές. Στρατός, επειδή είναι μια ιεραρχική μονάδα, υπάρχουν «στρατηγοί» και μια ομάδα αφοσιωμένων στρατιωτών. Μαφία, επειδή είναι συχνά μια παράνομη δομή που δε συνεργάζεται με την αστυνομία, έχει έναν κώδικα που σχετίζεται με τη σωματική τιμωρία και τον αποκλεισμό.
Έχουν σημασία οι απόψεις;
Οι πολιτικές ιδέες δεν είναι το κύριο στοιχείο που δένει αυτές τις ομάδες. Έχει να κάνει περισσότερο με τα ενδιαφέροντα. Δεν έχω ακούσει ποτέ από κανέναν χούλιγκαν ότι τον στρατολόγησαν λόγω απόψεων. Υποθέτω όμως ότι αν κάποιος βρεθεί σε μια τέτοια ιεραρχική δομή, πρέπει να είναι ένα άτομο με συντηρητικές απόψεις· είναι πιο εύκολο για ένα τέτοιο άτομο.
Μετά από κάθε πορεία Ανεξαρτησίας [σημείωση του συντάκτη: ετήσιες εθνικιστικές συγκεντρώσεις στη Βαρσοβία στις 11 Νοεμβρίου] γίνεται λόγος για χούλιγκαν που πολεμούν με την αστυνομία. Είναι χούλιγκαν των γηπέδων που εμφανίζονται εκεί;
Ταυτίζουμε τη λέξη «χούλιγκαν» με τον γενικό χουλιγκανισμό. Ωστόσο, δεδομένης της φύσης αυτού του περιβάλλοντος, δεν είναι ιδιαίτερα πρόθυμοι να συμμετάσχουν ενεργά σε τέτοιες εκδηλώσεις. Σε τελική ανάλυση, μπορεί να τους συλλάβει η αστυνομία, και υπάρχει ο κίνδυνος «να προκύψει» κάτι άλλο. Φυσικά, αυτό δε σημαίνει ότι δε συμμετέχουν οπαδοί του ποδοσφαίρου, αλλά είναι κυρίως ultras που αναζητούν εμπειρίες στο δρόμο, κάτι που δεν υπάρχει πλέον στα γήπεδα, τη συγκίνηση της αδρεναλίνης, την αντιπαράθεση, τη μάχη με το σύστημα. Οι χούλιγκαν έχουν πολλά να χάσουν.
Τι γίνεται αν ένας χούλιγκαν καταγγείλει έναν άλλο χούλιγκαν;
Μίλησα με έναν πρώην χούλιγκαν της Κρακοβίας. Κάποτε, με έναν φίλο, επιτέθηκαν σε έναν οπαδό της Βίσλα, ο οποίος κατείγγειλε την επίθεση στην αστυνομία. Έτσι, ο συνεντευξιαζόμενος μου ήρθε αντιμέτωπος με το δίλημμα αν ήθελε να πάει στη φυλακή. Δεν κάρφωσε κανέναν, αλλά συνεργάστηκε με την αστυνομία. Στην κοινότητα των οπαδών, ωστόσο, θεωρήθηκε τελειωμένος. Οι άνθρωποι τον έβριζαν στο δρόμο και τη μια φορά που πήγε στο γήπεδο της Κρακοβίας, έπρεπε να φύγει γρήγορα. Οι ηγέτες των ομάδων χούλιγκαν δεν μπορούν να αποκλίνουν από τον κανόνα. Πρέπει να επιδεικνύουν δύναμη και αποφασιστικότητα για να κρατήσουν τον κόσμο σε τάξη.
Γιατί προσελκύονται τόσοι πολλοί νέοι σε αυτές τις ομάδες;
Αυτό ισχύει ιδιαίτερα για τους νέους που είναι σε ηλικία ενηλικίωσης. Γίνονται μέλη της ομάδας, παίρνουν ένα τηλέφωνο, συχνά βγάζουν τα πρώτα τους λεφτά. Υπάρχει ένα στοιχείο αλληλεγγύης σε όλα αυτά, το οποίο μπορεί να είναι ελκυστικό. Υπάρχει επίσης η προοπτική της γρήγορης ανέλιξης, η αίσθηση ότι κάποιος είναι ελίτ, ότι έχει δύναμη. Για πολλούς είναι κοινωνική πρόοδος.
Υπάρχει τώρα κρίση στις στρατολογήσεις;
Η κοινότητα των οπαδών έχει γενικά πρόβλημα με τη στρατολόγηση και η πανδημία του κορονοϊού έχει εμβαθύνει αυτό το πρόβλημα. Είναι δύσκολο να προσελκύσουν νέους ανθρώπους που έχουν τόσες πολλές επιλογές για ψυχαγωγία αυτές τις μέρες. Επιπλέον, είναι μια συγκεκριμένη ομάδα στην οποία πρέπει να υπακούς κάποιον συγκεκριμένο, δεν υπάρχει δημοκρατία, οι περισσότεροι νέοι δεν το δέχονται αυτό. Αυτό ισχύει όμως για τους οπαδούς του ποδοσφαίρου γενικά, όχι μόνο για τους χούλιγκαν.
Υπάρχει πολιτική δυναμική σε αυτήν την ομάδα; Λέγεται ότι οι χούλιγκαν είναι η πολιτοφυλακή του Νόμος και Δικαιοσύνη.
Κάθε φορά που το ακούω, λέω: να περιμένουμε, να δούμε. Ακόμη και στην ποσοτική έρευνα, το PiS κατατάσσεται μόνο στην τρίτη ή τέταρτη θέση σε μια λίστα με τις πολιτικές συμπάθειές τους. Πάνω από το PiS υπάρχουν τα Ruch Narodowy (Εθνικό Κίνημα), Konfederacja (Συνομοσπονδία), Kukiz και αντικαθεστωτικά κινήματα. Βρίσκονται ακόμη πιο δεξιά από το PiS.
Γιατί χρειάζονται το ποδόσφαιρο;

Δεδομένου ότι οι γυναίκες εισέρχονται σε αυτές τις ομάδες, δεν υπάρχει άλλη θηλυκότητα εκεί πέραν από αυτή που ορίζουν οι άνδρες. Το σύνθημα: «δικές μας κερκίδες, δικοί μας κανόνες» λειτουργεί πολυδιάστατα. Δίνει μια αίσθηση ελέγχου και δύναμης - κάτι που πολλοί άνδρες σε πολλούς κοινωνικούς τομείς χάνουν λόγω της χειραφέτησης των γυναικών.

Krytyka Polityczna: Usted escribió un artículo sobre la lucha de clases entre los ultras [Class wars among devoted football supporters. Hooligan bourgeoisie and non-hooligan proletariat] junto con Mateusz Grodecki, otro sociólogo que investiga la cultura de los aficionados. ¿Cómo consiguió combinar la retórica marxista con los radicales del fútbol?
Radosław Kossakowski: Era una idea descabellada, pero aprovechamos que el marco teórico marxista no está asociado a tanto ostracismo y controversia en Occidente como en Polonia. Los investigadores se apoyan en él porque la comercialización y la mercantilización del fútbol fueron objeto de debate durante años. Los investigadores de la Premier League inglesa han hecho especial énfasis en ello. El fútbol es una mercancía, y el principal destinatario, que era la clase trabajadora, se ha visto privado del entretenimiento. Aplicamos un marco marxista al mundo de los aficionados al fútbol. Marx no es popular en Polonia, pero nosotros lo abordamos de forma analítica. Simplemente hablamos de una determinada relación de poder. Es un buen marco interpretativo para describir algunos fenómenos empíricos. Ni más ni menos.
¿Qué controlan los hooligans que se convierten en una clase burguesa?
En primer lugar, los medios materiales. Es conocido el caso de los hinchas del Ruch Chorzów, que ganaron unos 100.000 zlotys (22.000 euros al cambio) &nbsp;su viaje a la final de la Copa de Polonia. Por supuesto, este beneficio no se repartió entre todos los aficionados, sino que fue a parar a los bolsillos de unos pocos privilegiados. Entre las cuestiones materiales se encuentra el reparto de entradas u objetos. En el caso del Wisła Kraków, varios hooligans del grupo Sharks vivía de dirigir clubes de artes marciales, así que si querías entrenar, les hacías ganar dinero. ¿Cómo distinguir a los ultras de los hooligans?
Los grupos de hooligans están especializados y entrenados, conocen muy bien las artes marciales y no hay gente extraña en sus estructuras. Los ultras se dedican a animar, a agitar banderas, pero por lo general no son deportistas, no tienen ninguna posibilidad en un enfrentamiento con los hooligans. Estos solo atraen a gente fuerte y en forma, porque basta uno de ellos para tener ventaja sobre el rival.
¿Cómo se desarrolló el movimiento hooligan en Polonia? ¿Se aprovecharon de la falta de interés del Estado durante la transformación?
Hasta cierto punto, sí. Después de 1989, el Estado no controló la situación en los estadios. La primera versión de la Ley de Seguridad de los Eventos Masivos se aprobó en 1997, pero durante años permaneció inactiva. El Estado empezó a vigilar este entorno demasiado tarde. También hablamos de un grupo muy reservado, que vivía su propia vida y no se hacía publicidad. Sus excesos no perturbaban el funcionamiento del Estado, que tenía otras prioridades. Al final, tenía que priorizar la lucha contra el desempleo masivo, antes que a un grupo de aficionados al fútbol agresivos.
¿Cuándo entró el problema de los hooligans en la escena pública?
Con los preparativos para la organización de la Eurocopa de 2012. Fue entonces cuando se convirtió en un asunto público, porque nos preparábamos para la fiesta del fútbol. Los periodistas empezaron a escribir sobre el problema con más frecuencia y lo analizaron más de cerca. Fue la época en que la profesionalización de los hooligans empezó a cobrar fuerza. Hoy parece estar en su punto más alto.
¿En qué consistió esta profesionalización?
Se regularon ciertos comportamientos. Los hooligans crean grupos muy unidos, con un fuerte énfasis en el entrenamiento físico, y exigen un compromiso total de sus miembros. Los hinchas del Górnik Zabrze tienen un lema: "Si no viajas ni haces ejercicio, no cuentas". No se puede ser un hooligan junto a un puesto de cerveza. No es un grupo en el que puedas decir que no vas a un sitio porque no quieres. Hay un límite, y si lo cruzas, no hay salida. En última instancia, así se obtiene información sobre actividades ilegales.
¿Los hooligans funcionan más como la mafia o el ejército?
Yo combinaría las dos metáforas. El ejército, porque es una unidad jerárquica, con generales y un grupo de soldados dedicados. La mafia, porque suele ser una estructura ilegal que no coopera con la policía, tiene un código asociado al castigo físico y a la exclusión.
¿Importan las posturas u opiniones?
Las ideas políticas no son el principal elemento que cohesiona estos grupos. Se trata más bien de intereses. Nunca he oído decirle a un hooligan que haya sido reclutado por sus opiniones, pero supongo que si alguien está en una estructura tan jerárquica, debe ser una persona con opiniones conservadoras. Es más fácil para alguien así.
Después de cada celebración de la independencia se habla de gamberros que se pelean con la policía. ¿Son los hooligans los que aparecen allí?
Asociamos la palabra "hooligan" con el gamberrismo en general. Pero dada la naturaleza de su entorno, no están muy dispuestos a ser activos en estos eventos. La policía puede atraparlos y existe el riesgo de que surja algo más. Por supuesto, no significa que los aficionados al fútbol no estén allí, pero son en su mayoría ultras que buscan experiencias en la calle, algo que ya no ocurre en los estadios, la emoción de la adrenalina, la confrontación, la lucha con el sistema. Los hooligans tienen mucho que perder.
¿Qué pasa si un hooligan denuncia a otro?
Hablé con un antiguo hooligan de Cracovia. Una vez, con un amigo, atacaron a un aficionado del Wisła que denunció la agresión a la policía. Mi entrevistado se enfrentó al dilema de si quería ir a la cárcel. No delató a nadie, pero cooperó con la policía. Sin embargo, en la comunidad de aficionados estaba acabado. La gente le insultaba por la calle y la única vez que fue al estadio tuvo que huir. Se trasladó a una casa segura durante unos meses. Hay casos de hinchas golpeados por otros por haber ido a la policía. Esto no solo se considera deshonroso, sino que amenaza las actividades del grupo. Si se descubre que alguien tuvo algo que ver con la policía, está acabado. Los líderes de los grupos hooligans no se pueden permitir desviarse de la norma. Tienen que mostrar fuerza y determinación para mantener a la gente a raya.
¿Por qué estos grupos son atractivos para muchos jóvenes?
Sobre todo para los jóvenes que entran en la edad adulta. Se convierten en miembros del grupo, consiguen un móvil y a menudo ganan su primer dinero. Hay un elemento de solidaridad que puede ser atractivo. También existe la perspectiva de un rápido ascenso, la sensación de formar parte de una élite, de tener poder. Para muchos es un ascensor social.
¿Existe ahora una crisis de reclutamiento?
La comunidad en general tiene un problema de reclutamiento y la pandemia lo ha profundizado. Es difícil captar a los jóvenes, que hoy en día tienen mucho entretenimiento para elegir. Además, es un grupo específico donde se escucha a alguien; no hay democracia. La mayoría de los jóvenes no se lo creen. Pero esto aplica a los aficionados en general, no solo a los hooligans.
¿Hay un potencial cívico-político en este grupo? Se dice que los hooligans son la milicia de Ley y Justicia (PiS).
Cada vez que oigo esto, afirmó que tenemos que esperar y ver. Incluso en las investigaciones cuantitativas, el PiS apenas ocupa el tercer o cuarto lugar en su lista de simpatías políticas. Por delante están el Movimiento Nacional, la Confederación, Kukiz y los movimientos antisistema. Están incluso más a la derecha que el PiS.
¿Por qué necesitan el fútbol?
Es uno de los últimos bastiones de como se percibe la masculinidad tradicional. Allí nadie dice lo que es políticamente correcto y el lenguaje que debe usarse. Los grupos de hinchas dan rienda suelta a esta masculinidad tribal. Allí se respeta a las mujeres, pero en los términos de los hombres. Desde que las mujeres entran en estos grupos, no hay más feminidad que la definida por ellos. El lema "nuestras gradas, nuestras reglas" funciona de forma multidimensional. Da una sensación de control y poder, algo que bastantes hombres pierden en muchos ámbitos sociales debido a la emancipación de las mujeres.

Joanna Wiśniowska : vous avez écrit l'article intitulé « Lutte des classes chez les supporters de football. Bourgeoisie hooligan et prolétariat non-hooligan » avec Mateusz Grodecki, qui est aussi un sociologue engagé dans la recherche sur la culture des fans. Comment avez-vous réussi à combiner la rhétorique marxiste avec les hooligans des stades ?
Radosław Kossakowski : C'était une idée folle, mais nous avons profité du fait que, comparé à la Pologne, le cadre théorique marxiste ne faisait pas autant l'objet d'ostracisme et de controverse à l'Ouest. Les chercheurs s'y réfèrent parce que la commercialisation et la marchandisation du football ont été discutées pendant des années. Cela a été particulièrement souligné par les chercheurs de la première ligue anglaise. Le football est une marchandise, et son principal destinataire, à savoir la classe ouvrière, a été privé de ce divertissement. La théorie de Marx décrit également la domination d'une classe sur une autre et, puisque cela s'applique également au football, nous avons décidé d'employer cette théorie. Personne en Pologne n'avait encore parlé du football sous cet angle.
C'est ce qui fait la nouveauté de votre recherche ?
Nous avons appliqué un cadre marxiste à l'univers des supporters de football. La plupart des gens disent que les fans de foot sont la proie des entreprises. Mais nous sommes arrivés à la conclusion qu'il existe également une petite classe dirigeante parmi les fans : la bourgeoisie hooligan. Il s'agit d'une classe qui a une voix décisive sur de nombreuses questions et qui exploite souvent la « classe ouvrière » du monde du football, c'est-à-dire les autres fans qui travaillent pour la communauté des fans de football.
J'imagine la tête que feront les hooligans polonais quand ils découvriront qu'ils ont été forcés d'entrer dans un cadre marxiste...
Marx n'est pas populaire en Pologne, mais nous abordons cette question de manière analytique, nous parlons simplement d'une certaine relation de pouvoir. C'est un bon cadre interprétatif pour décrire certains phénomènes empiriques. Ni plus, ni moins.
Que contrôlent ces hooligans au point d'en faire une classe bourgeoise ?
Tout d'abord, les moyens matériels. Il y a le cas bien connu des supporters de Ruch Chorzów qui ont gagné environ 100 000 zlotys (22 000 euros) grâce à leur voyage en finale de la Coupe de Pologne. Bien entendu, ce bénéfice n'a pas été distribué à tous les supporters, mais est allé dans les poches de quelques privilégiés. Les questions matérielles comprennent la distribution de billets ou de gadgets. Dans le cas du Wisła Kraków (un des clubs de Cracovie, ndlr), un groupe de hooligans se faisant appeler « les Requins » vivait de la gestion de clubs d'arts martiaux, donc si vous vouliez vous entraîner, vous leur faisiez gagner de l'argent. Et il existe un contrôle symbolique : dans de nombreux cas, les ultras doivent se mettre d'accord au préalable avec les hooligans sur les feux d'artifice. Nous avons donc à faire à une domination à plusieurs niveaux.
Comment distinguer les ultras des hooligans ?
Les groupes de hooligans sont spécialisés et entraînés, ils connaissent très bien les arts martiaux, aucun de leur membre n'est là par hasard. Les ultras encouragent, agitent des drapeaux, mais ne sont souvent pas sportifs. Ils n'ont aucune chance en cas de confrontation avec les hooligans. Ces derniers n'attirent que les personnes entraînées et fortes, car ce sont les seules à avoir l'avantage sur l'adversaire.
Comment les mouvements hooligans se sont-ils développés en Pologne ? Ont-ils profité du manque d'intérêt de l'État pendant la période de transition qui a suivi la chute du communisme ?
Dans une certaine mesure, oui. Après 1989, l'État n'a pas contrôlé la situation dans les stades. La première version de la loi sur la sécurité des événements de masse a été adoptée en 1997, mais elle est restée en sommeil pendant des années. L'État a commencé à surveiller ces lieux trop tard. D'autant que les hooligans sont un groupe très secret, qui vivait sa propre vie et ne cherchait pas à se faire connaître. Leurs excès ne perturbaient pas le fonctionnement de l'État. L'État avait d'autres priorités à l'époque : s'occuper du chômage de masse, plutôt que d'un groupe de supporters de football agressifs.
Quand le problème des hooligans est-il entré dans l'arène publique ?
Lorsque les préparatifs pour l'organisation de l'Euro 2012 ont débuté. C'est à ce moment-là que le problème est devenu un sujet public, car nous nous préparions à la fête du football. Les journalistes ont commencé à écrire plus souvent sur le sujet et à l'examiner de plus près. C'est à ce moment-là que la professionnalisation des hooligans a commencé à prendre de l'ampleur. Aujourd'hui, elle semble avoir atteint son apogée.
En quoi consistait cette professionnalisation ?
Certains comportements sont réglementés. Les hooligans créent des groupes très soudés, qui mettent l'accent sur l'entraînement et exigent un engagement total de la part de leurs membres. Les supporters de Górnik Zabrze ont un slogan : « Tu ne voyages pas, tu ne t'entraînes pas - tu ne comptes pas ». Vous ne pouvez pas être un hooligan en restant à côté d'un stand de bière. Ce n'est pas un groupe où l'on peut dire que l'on ne veut pas suivre. Il y a une limite et, si vous la franchissez, vous ne pouvez plus en sortir. Mais c'est en la franchissant que vous obtenez des informations sur les activités illégales.
Le fonctionnement des hooligans ressemble-t-il davantage à celui de la mafia ou de l'armée ?
Je combinerais les deux métaphores. L'armée, parce que c'est une unité hiérarchique, avec des « généraux » et un groupe de soldats dévoués. La mafia, parce qu'elle consiste souvent en une structure illégale qui ne coopère pas avec la police. Son code inclue la punition physique et l'exclusion.
Les opinions comptent-elles ?
Les idées politiques ne sont pas l'élément principal qui cimente ces groupes. Il s'agit plutôt d'intérêts. Aucun des hooligans ne m'a jamais dit qu'il avait été recruté sur la base de ses opinions. Mais je suppose que si quelqu'un se retrouve dans une telle structure hiérarchique, il doit être une personne aux opinions conservatrices. Ce sera plus facile pour lui.
Après chaque marche pour l'indépendance (rassemblements nationalistes annuels à Varsovie le 11 novembre, ndlr), on parle de hooligans qui se battent avec la police. S'agit-il des hooligans des stades ?
Nous associons le terme « hooligan » au hooliganisme en général. Mais étant donné la nature de cet environnement, ils ne sont pas particulièrement désireux de prendre une part active à de tels événements. Après tout, ils peuvent se faire attraper par la police, et il y a le risque que quelque chose d'autre « surgisse ». Bien sûr, cela ne veut pas dire que les fans de football n'en sont pas, mais ce sont surtout des ultras qui recherchent des expériences de rue, quelque chose qui n'existe plus dans les stades, le frisson de l'adrénaline, la confrontation, le combat avec le système. De leur côté, les hooligans ont trop à perdre.
Et si un hooligan dénonce un autre hooligan ?
J'ai parlé à un ancien hooligan de Cracovie. Une fois, avec un ami, ils ont attaqué un supporter de Wisła qui est allé voir la police. Mon interlocuteur a donc été confronté au dilemme de savoir s'il voulait aller en prison. Il n'a balancé personne, mais il a coopéré avec la police. Dans la communauté des fans, cependant, il était fini. Les gens l'insultaient dans la rue, et la seule fois où il s'est rendu au stade de Cracovie, il a dû s'enfuir rapidement. Il s'est installé dans une maison sécurisée pendant quelques mois. Il y a des cas où des supporters ont été battus par d'autres supporters parce qu'ils étaient allés voir la police. Non seulement cela est considéré comme déshonorant, mais cela menace également les activités du groupe. Si l'on apprend que quelqu'un a eu affaire à la police, cette personne est finie. Les chefs de groupes de hooligans ne peuvent pas se permettre de déroger à la règle. Ils doivent faire preuve de force et de détermination pour garder les gens dans le rang.
Pourquoi ces groupes attirent-ils de nombreux jeunes ?
C'est particulièrement vrai pour les jeunes hommes qui entrent dans l'âge adulte. Ils deviennent membres du groupe, obtiennent un téléphone et gagnent souvent leur premier salaire. Il y a un élément de solidarité dans tout cela, qui peut être attrayant. Il y a aussi la perspective d'une promotion rapide, le sentiment d'appartenir à une élite, d'avoir du pouvoir. Pour beaucoup, c'est une promotion sociale.
Y a-t-il actuellement une crise des recrutements ?
La communauté des fans a généralement un problème de recrutement, et la pandémie de coronavirus a aggravé ce problème. Il est difficile d'impliquer des jeunes qui ont tant de choix de divertissement de nos jours. De plus, c'est un groupe spécifique où il faut écouter quelqu'un, il n'y a pas de démocratie là-dedans et la plupart des jeunes n'y adhèrent pas. Mais cela concerne les fans de football en général, pas seulement les hooligans.
Y a-t-il un potentiel citoyen dans ce groupe ? On dit que les hooligans sont la milice du parti Droit et Justice...
Chaque fois que j'entends cela, je dis : attendons de voir. Même dans les études quantitatives, le PiS n'arrive qu'en troisième ou quatrième position dans leurs préférences politiques. Devant le PiS, on trouve les partis Ruch Narodowy (Mouvement national), Konfederacja (Confédération), Kukiz et des mouvements anti-establishment. Ils sont encore plus à droite que le PiS.
Pourquoi ont-ils besoin du football ?
C'est l'un des derniers bastions de la masculinité telle qu'elle est perçue traditionnellement. Personne n'est là pour dire ce qui est politiquement correct et quel langage il faut adopter. Les groupes de supporters de football donnent libre cours à cette masculinité tribale. Les femmes y sont respectées, mais selon les termes des hommes. Et pour les femmes qui ont intégré ces groupes, il n'y a plus d'autre féminité que celle définie par les hommes. Le slogan : « nos positions, nos règles » fonctionne de manière multidimensionnelle. Il donne un sentiment de contrôle et de pouvoir - ce que beaucoup d'hommes dans de nombreux domaines sociaux perdent en raison de l'émancipation des femmes.

Pologne : le phénomène hooligan à l'aune de la lutte des classes

Le chercheur Radosław Kossakowski a analysé le hooliganisme polonais à l'aune de la lutte des classes. Ce qu'il a découvert est stupéfiant.

"Hooligans haben in vielen Fragen eine entscheidende Stimme, und sie nutzen oft die Arbeiter der Fußballwelt aus, also andere Fans, die für die Gemeinschaft arbeiten", sagt Radosław Kossakowski, der Fankultur in Polen erforscht.

Joanna Wiśniowska: In Ihrer Arbeit sprechen ihr Kollege Mateusz Grodecki und Sie von "Hooligan Bourgeoisie" und "Nicht-Hooligan Proletariat". Wie haben sie diese diese Begriffe marxistischer Theorie auf Hooligan-Kultur angewandt?
Radosław Kossakowski: Es war eine verrückte Idee, aber wir nutzten den Umstand, dass der theoretische marxistische Rahmen im Westen nicht mit einer solchen Ächtung und Kontroverse verbunden ist wie in Polen. Die Forschenden stützen sich darauf, weil die Kommerzialisierung und Kommodifizierung des Fußballs jahrelang debattiert wurde. Dies wurde besonders von denjenigen, die die englische Premier League erforschen, hervorgehoben. Fußball ist eine Ware, um die sein Hauptabnehmer, der Arbeiterklasse, als Unterhaltung beraubt wurde. Die Theorie von Marx beschreibt auch die Herrschaft einer Klasse über eine andere, und da dies auch auf den Fußball zutrifft, haben wir uns entschieden, diese Theorie anzuwenden. Niemand in Polen hatte zuvor über Fußball in diesem Zusammenhang gesprochen.
Ist das der Mehrwert Ihrer Herangehensweise?
Die meisten Leute sagen, dass die Wirtschaft die Fußballfans ausnutzt. Wir kamen aber zu dem Schluss, dass es auch eine kleine herrschende Klasse unter den Fußballfans gibt, die Hooligan-Bourgeoisie. Es ist eine Klasse von Hooligans, die in vielen Fragen eine entscheidende Stimme hat, und sie beuten oft die "Arbeiterklasse" der Fußballwelt aus, also andere Fans, die für die Fangemeinschaft arbeiten.
Ich kann mir jetzt schon vorstellen, wie die Reaktionen sind, wenn die polnischen Hooligans herausfinden, dass sie mittels marxistischer Theorie erfasst wurden...
Marx ist in Polen nicht gerade beliebt, aber wir gehen analytisch an die Sache heran, wir sprechen schlichtweg von einem bestimmten Machtverhältnis. Es ist ein guter Interpretationsrahmen, um einige empirische Phänomene zu beschreiben. Nicht mehr und nicht weniger.
Was und wen beherrschen die Hooligans, das man sie als "bourgeois" bezeichnen kann?
Zunächst einmal verfügen sie über materielle Mittel. Es gibt einen bekannten Fall von Fans von Ruch Chorzów, die etwa 100.000 Zloty [22.000 Euro] aus ihrer Reise zum polnischen Pokalfinale gewonnen haben. Natürlich wurde dieser Gewinn nicht unter allen Fans verteilt, sondern ging in die Taschen einiger weniger Privilegierter. Zu den materiellen Dingen gehören die Verteilung von Eintrittskarten oder Gadgets. Im Fall von Wisła Kraków lebte eine Gruppe von sogenannten "Sharks-Hooligans" davon, dass sie einen Kampfsportclub betrieben, also wer trainieren wollte, sorgte dafür, dass sie Geld verdienen. Wie sich später herausstellte, hatten sie auch die Kontrolle über die Verteilung der Eintrittskarten. Hooligans monopolisieren auch andere Märkte, beispielsweise den Drogenmarkt. Aber es gibt auch eine symbolische Kontrolle. In vielen Fällen müssen die Ultras ihre Fackeldarbietungen vorher mit den Hooligans absprechen [Ultras sind fanatische Fußballfans, die mit dem Einsatz von Fackeln, lautstarker Unterstützung und dem Zeigen von Bannern in den Stadien verbunden sind, Anm. d. Red.]. Wir haben es also mit Dominanz auf vielen Ebenen zu tun.
Wie kann man Ultras von Hooligans unterscheiden?
Hooligan-Gruppen sind spezialisiert und trainiert, sie beherrschen Kampfsportarten sehr gut, in ihren Strukturen bleibt nichts dem Zufall überlassen. Ultras sind am Anfeuern beteiligt, schwenken Fahnen, sind aber oft nicht sportlich, sie haben keine Chance in einer Konfrontation mit den Hooligans. Die Hooligans ziehen nur körperlich fitte, starke Menschen an, denn nur ein solches Individuum stellt einen Vorteil gegenüber dem Gegner dar.
Wie haben sich die Hooligan-Bewegungen in Polen entwickelt? Haben sie das Desinteresse des Staates während der Transformation ausgenutzt?
Bis zu einem gewissen Grad, ja. Nach 1989 hatte der Staat die Situation in den Stadien nicht unter Kontrolle. Die erste Version des Gesetzes über die Sicherheit von Massenveranstaltungen wurde 1997 verabschiedet, aber jahrelang lag es im Dornröschenschlaf. Der Staat begann zu spät, dieses Umfeld zu überwachen. Das lag auch daran, dass es sich um eine sehr verschwiegene Gruppe handelte, die ihr eigenes Leben führte und nicht auf Öffentlichkeit drängte. Ihre Exzesse haben das Funktionieren des Staates nicht gestört. Der Staat hatte damals andere Prioritäten, schließlich musste er sich vorrangig um die Massenarbeitslosigkeit kümmern und nicht um eine Gruppe aggressiver Fußballfans.
Wann ist das Problem der Hooligans Teil einer öffentlichen Diskussion geworden?
Als die Vorbereitungen für die Europameisterschaften 2012 begannen. Das war die Zeit, in der Journalisten begannen, häufiger über das Problem zu schreiben und es genauer unter die Lupe zu nehmen. Und es war die Zeit, in der die Professionalisierung der Hooligans begann, an Fahrt zu gewinnen. Heute scheint sie auf ihrem Höhepunkt zu sein.
Worin bestand diese Professionalisierung?
Bestimmte Verhaltensweisen wurden reguliert. Hooligans bilden in sich geschlossene Gruppen, die viel körperlich trainieren und von ihren Mitgliedern vollen Einsatz verlangen. Die Fans von Górnik Zabrze haben einen Slogan: "Du reist nicht, du trainierst nicht – du zählst nicht". Für sie dürfen die Hooligans nicht ständig am Bierstand stehen. Das ist keine Gruppe, bei der man sagen kann, dass man nicht irgendwohin geht, weil man keine Lust hat. Es gibt eine Grenze, und wenn man sie überschreitet, gibt es keinen Ausweg. Letztendlich bekommt man so Informationen über illegale Aktivitäten.
Funktionieren Hooligans eher wie die Mafia oder die Armee?
Ich würde diese beiden Metaphern miteinander verbinden. Die Armee, weil sie eine hierarchische Einheit ist, es gibt "Generäle" und eine Gruppe von engagierten Soldaten. Die Mafia, weil es sich häufig um eine illegale Struktur handelt, die nicht mit der Polizei kooperiert, sie hat einen Code, der mit körperlicher Bestrafung und Ausgrenzung verbunden ist.
Sind politische Ansichten wichtig?
Politische Ideen sind nicht das Hauptelement, das diese Gruppen zusammenhält. Es geht eher um Interessen. Ich habe noch nie von Hooligans gehört, dass sie aufgrund ihrer Ansichten rekrutiert wurden. Aber ich nehme an, dass jemand, der sich in einer solchen hierarchischen Struktur wiederfindet, eine Person mit konservativen Ansichten sein muss; für eine solche Person ist es einfacher.
Nach jedem Unabhängigkeitsmarsch, eine jährlich stattfindende nationalistische Kundgebungen in Warschau, ist von Hooligans die Rede, die sich mit der Polizei prügeln. Sind es die Hooligans aus den Sportstadien, die dort auftreten?
Das Wort "Hooligan" assoziieren wir mit allgemeinem Rowdytum. Aber angesichts der Natur dieses Umfelds sind sie nicht besonders erpicht darauf, sich aktiv an solchen Veranstaltungen zu beteiligen. Schließlich können sie von der Polizei erwischt werden, und es besteht die Gefahr, dass etwas anderes "herauskommt". Das heißt natürlich nicht, dass die Fußballfans nicht da sind, aber es sind meist Ultras, die das Erlebnis auf der Straße suchen, etwas, das es in den Stadien nicht mehr gibt, den Adrenalinkick, die Konfrontation, den Kampf mit dem System. Die Hooligans haben zu viel zu verlieren.
Was ist, wenn ein Hooligan einen anderen Hooligan anzeigt?
Ich habe mit einem ehemaligen Cracovia-Hooligan gesprochen. Einmal haben sie mit einem Freund einen Wisła-Fan angegriffen, der den Angriff bei der Polizei anzeigte. Mein Gesprächspartner stand also vor dem Dilemma, ob er ins Gefängnis gehen wollte. Er hat niemanden verraten, sondern mit der Polizei kooperiert. In der Fangemeinde war er jedoch erledigt. Die Leute beschimpften ihn auf der Straße, und als er einmal in das Stadion von Cracovia ging, musste er schnell weglaufen. Er zog sich für ein paar Monate in einen geheimen Unterschlupf zurück. Es gibt Fälle, in denen Fans von anderen Fans zusammengeschlagen wurden, weil sie zur Polizei gingen. Das wird nicht nur als unehrenhaft angesehen, sondern bedroht auch die Aktivitäten der Gruppe. Wenn herauskommt, dass jemand etwas mit der Polizei zu tun hatte, ist es mit dieser Person vorbei. Anführer von Hooligan-Gruppen können es sich nicht leisten, von dieser Regel abzuweichen. Sie müssen Stärke und Entschlossenheit zeigen, um die Leute bei der Stange zu halten.
Warum sind diese Gruppen für viele junge Menschen attraktiv?
Das gilt besonders für junge Männer, die ins Erwachsenenalter eintreten. Sie werden Mitglieder der Gruppe, sie bekommen ein Handy und verdienen oft ihr erstes bisschen Geld. In all dem steckt ein Element der Solidarität, das reizvoll sein kann. Es gibt auch die Aussicht auf einen schnellen Aufstieg, das Gefühl, zur Elite zu gehören, Macht zu haben. Für viele ist es ein sozialer Aufstieg.
Gibt es jetzt eine Krise bei der Rekrutierung?
Die Fangemeinde hat generell ein Problem mit der Rekrutierung, und die Coronavirus-Pandemie hat dieses Problem noch verschärft. Es ist schwierig, junge Leute zu engagieren, die heutzutage so viel Unterhaltung zur Auswahl haben. Außerdem ist es eine spezielle Gruppe, bei der man auf jemanden hören muss, da gibt es keine Demokratie, die meisten jungen Leute akzeptieren das nicht. Aber das gilt für Fußballfans im Allgemeinen, nicht nur für Hooligans.
Liegt in dieser Gruppe ein bürgerliches Potenzial? Man sagt, dass die Hooligans die Miliz von PiS sind.
Jedes Mal, wenn ich das höre, sage ich: Warten wir mal ab. Selbst in der quantitativen Forschung rangiert die PiS nur an dritter oder vierter Stelle in einer Liste ihrer politischen Sympathien. Vor der PiS liegen Ruch Narodowy (Nationale Bewegung), Konfederacja (Konföderation), Kukiz und Anti-Establishment-Bewegungen. Sie stehen sogar noch weiter rechts als die PiS.
Warum brauchen sie Fußball?
Es ist eine der letzten Bastionen traditioneller Männlichkeitsvorstellungen. Dort sagt niemand, was politisch korrekt ist und welche Sprache verwendet werden sollte. In den Fußball-Fangruppen wird eine Art Stammes-Männlichkeit ausgelebt. Frauen werden dort zwar respektiert, aber zu den Bedingungen der Männer. Es gibt es dort nur eine bestimmte Weiblichkeit, die von Männern definiert wird. Der Slogan: "Unsere Stände, unsere Regeln" wirkt in viele Richtungen. Er vermittelt ein Gefühl von Kontrolle und Macht – etwas, das viele Männer in vielen gesellschaftlichen Bereichen durch die Emanzipation der Frauen verlieren.
